Still Alive

Well, I made it through the dark days of January and into early February. Looking for inspiration on what to post here, but honestly the financial and banking system crisis is well done now. I don’t feel any need to talk about it too much anymore, other than to say: ignore the lies about the recession being caused by mortgages that homeowners could not afford.  The blame rests firmly on the banks and the investment firms that overvalued and securitized debt (meaning they bundled it up and sold it in huge chunks to investers). Joe Homeowner is not to blame.

In technology news, I believe there is a kind of recession going on there as well. I believe everyone is stepping back from the unecessary technology in their lives and simplifying. Picking a place to set a spell, if you will. Reduced innovation as a result.

In politics, the Obama administration has made many unusual choices in cabinet picks and appointments, and the whole stimiulus package drama didn’t portray them well. Fortunately, Democrats have been leading a charge they have been unwillng to take up on issues around consumer solvency and justice for war crimes. Mostly he appears to be living up to my predictions on issues where I thought he would disappoint.

On a scale of 1-10, my forecast is that 2009 wll be a 3.5
